Natural fibers are a type of fiber which is derived from material within plants, animals or geological processes. Although natural fibers, semi-synthetic fibers and synthetic fibers are all derived from materials found on earth, natural fibers are derived entirely from the unaltered or un-enhanced substances found within plants, animals or minerals. In the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), an organic natural fiber is defined as all non genetically modified organism (GMO) plant fibers excluding conventional cotton, and all animal fibers excluding angora wool.
